The only negative about these fosters...

...is their test results!

Rue and Bro got an official clean bill of health today, yay! So did my kitten, Tiny Bro (Lil' Bro's son, who will be staying with me and my cat, Elle).

We're still cleaning up some roundworms and a veeeery mild case of hookworm (the lab folks only found ONE!), so got their meds in them now and in three weeks, the last pill.

Sharon, the woman taking Rue, agreed to let me come and give Rue the meds after the adoption - I'll go for a follow-up and do the pill-down-the-cat's-throat, which I'm pretty ace at :)

This is a VERY happy day! Everyone else tested negative, so this truly doesn't come as a surprise. But, I'm glad I opted for all the testing anyway, especially considering the dangers these kitties faced in the wild before I started fostering them.

They gave no struggle whatsoever during the bloodwork and fecal sampling, and were such good kitties. Rue's on an antibiotic right now to help with the stinky, loose stool she's been having, and she gets rewarded with Nutrical when she's done, to get that nasty medicine flavor out of her mouth. She takes it like a champ.

Bro was so sweet and gentle when the tech handled him, and again, he gave no resistance whatsoever. He's a king of cats, and I'm so glad he and Tiny get to hang. His personality rubs off on his son and EVERYONE fell in love with my boys today when we were at the doctor's :)

Rue's going to a Forever Home!

Many, many thanks to Dorothy and Sharon for making space in their home, lives and hearts for Rue!

Today was the visit day and it went...gosh,I gotta say it went so amazingly! Rue's come around so far, and at first, she was a tad shy - running away, hiding and such, understandable - but...then she allowed Sharon to pet her AND HOLD HER!!!

I'm just so proud of Rue and the leaps and bounds she's made since I took her in when this started in March. She's a happy cat, and once I get the final check-up and go-ahead from the vet, she's going to her Forever Home!

It blows my mind how this began, and where we are right now. Six fosters, now down to Rue and Lil' Bro, and soon, just the big guy Lil' Bro.

I know someone out there's gonna claim him soon ;)

Updates!

My goodness, I can't believe it's been almost FOUR MONTHS since I took these fosters in! What an amazing, heartwarming experience it has been. We have faced some serious challenges, but overcame and it just blows my mind that I went from having three fosters, then three became six when Sammy had three babies!

And now, I'm down to two fosters :)  The siblings Rue and Lil' Bro - their spotlight pages have been updated as of July 11, 2011 - are still hanging around happily. Rue's got a meeting scheduled with a potential Forever Home family this week, but I want to get her to the veterinarian again this week for a final check-up before she goes to her new home.

They're awesome kitties and though I'd LOVE to keep them, I truly only have space and resources for my own two.

Again, these cats are fixed, have their shots, are housebroken, and have been handled by me for several months and are so sweet, loving, and very social. They'd make a great addition to the right home, and I'm excited for what's next for them!
